Description
Dr. Ayodele Nzinga, MFA, PhD (Oakland). Nzinga is an award winning producer, actress, director, poet, playwright, and activist. She is the founding director of, The Lower Bottom Playaz, Inc , the troupe made theater history in 2016 by becoming the first theater troupe in the world to stage August Wilson's entire, American Century Cycle, in chronological order. Nzinga produced and directed Collective Acts, Oakland's first Black Arts Movement Theater Festival. Nzinga was inducted into the Alameda County Women's Hall of fame in 2017 for her contributions to Art and Culture. She is currently planning a multi-venue arts festival in Oaklands Black Arts Movement District slated for February 2019, the production of her 18th Season, "Catch a Fire", completing the Glen Bailey Story: Lifer at Large to be adapted for stage --up in December 2018, producing The One Truthiness on stage in January 2018, and anticipating the launch of her new book, The Horse Eaters, published by Nomadic Press -- due for release in September 2017.
