Description

The second of the two Mindustry songs. Lemme know which one you liked more. I bet it'll be the opposite of the one I thought was best. I'm always surprised by which ones do better or worse.

You can check out the entire album on Youtube music, ITunes, or Spotify! Find the links here:

and here's a rant that I totaaaaaly didn't use as a sneaky way to keyword stuff for the algorithm:
ALRIGHT. I need to talk about this, because my brain is completely broken. It's a tangled mess of conveyor belts and I think some of my Mindustry logic gates have short-circuited.

I had ONE simple goal. ONE. I love the Mindustry soundtrack, the official Mindustry OST is a banger, right? But I wanted to make my own Mindustry inspired music. The plan was simple: write one song for Mindustry Serpulo and one song for Mindustry Erekir. How hard could that be? They're completely different planets!

Serpulo is the classic Mindustry gameplay experience. It’s this sprawling, green and purple world where you can build these massive, inefficient factories. It’s the home of the classic tower defense feel. I wanted a song that felt like that! A song that sounds like you're setting up perfect production lines for Thorium and Phase Fabric, watching your resources flow, building an army of Lancers… that feeling of satisfaction when your Core schematic just works. The pure joy of a good automation game. That's the Serpulo track. It was supposed to be majestic!

Then you have Erekir. Oh, Erekir. Anuke, what were you thinking? It’s not a factory game, it’s a panic attack simulator. It’s a brutal, red-hot nightmare of a real-time strategy game. The resource management is so tight you can’t breathe. You are constantly under assault. You see a single pixel of red on the map and you know a Reign or a Corvus is coming to dismantle your entire life's work. The Erekir track was supposed to be anxiety. It was meant to be the sound of desperation, of trying to get enough Beryllium to build one more turret before your core explodes. Pure RTS intensity.

So I started writing. I had the Serpulo track, all chill and industrial. I started the Erekir track, all dark and synth-heavy.

And then… I played the Mindustry campaign again. You know, for "inspiration."

That was my biggest mistake. THAT WAS THE FAILURE POINT.

Because what happens in Mindustry? You start on Serpulo, you get used to its systems. Then you go to Erekir, and its brutal RTS strategy rewires your brain. Then you go back to Serpulo and you start applying Erekir's paranoid, hyper-efficient base building tactics! Suddenly my sprawling, beautiful Serpulo factories looked like compact, militarized Erekir bases! I'm trying to micro my Duos like they're elite soldiers!

My creative process completely imploded. The two ideas… they MASHED. They bled into each other.

My calm, industrial Serpulo track started getting these frantic, aggressive drum patterns. It’s like the song is peacefully building a plastanium line and then SUDDENLY remembers it needs Surge Alloy RIGHT NOW OR WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE.

And the Erekir track? It started getting these… hopeful, melodic synth lines. It’s a song about impending doom, but in the bridge it suddenly gets all wistful and starts thinking about how nice it would be to have a kilometer-long titanium belt, just for fun.

I didn't make a song for Serpulo and a song for Erekir.

I made TWO SONGS ABOUT BOTH PLANETS AT THE SAME TIME. They are musical abominations! They're hybrids! One is "Anxious Serpulo" and the other is "Nostalgic Erekir." WHAT IS THIS?! This isn't a tips and tricks video, this is my ultimate guide to creative failure!

This is what this game does to you. It's not just Mindustry. It's Factorio, it's Satisfactory, it's Dyson Sphere Program! Your brain becomes a logistics network. The factory must grow, and apparently, my musical genres must merge!

So here they are. My two glorious failures. I don't know what to call them. Is this a Mindustry soundtrack for a planet that doesn't exist? A schizophrenic musical journey? I don't know. You tell me. Does this game break anyone else’s brain this badly? Let me know in the comments. I'm going to go stare at a wall. The songs are linked below. Go listen to my pain.
